Overview & Reviews
The Grand Prix underwent a redesign for 2004, but those familiar with the big sedan will find its blend of performance and comfort hasn't changed much.
- Strong supercharged V6, nimble handling, attractive gauges, easy-to-use controls, big trunk, fold-flat front-passenger seat.
- Build and materials quality still needs work, tight backseat, noisy engine, not enough storage or cupholders, no auto climate control.

Who needs steering? - 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix
By Stang - June 12 - 7:46 amI hate the variable speed assisted steering. Had to replace the steering box, $1,200, because of leaking fluid. I came back from my test drive asking what the whining in the engine came from. Just outside my warranty I discovered the problem. After fixing the problem, it still cuts out at low speeds. Will not buy a car with this type of steering again. You basically pull in at slow speed turn and you go straight instead of turning. Not good!

Great Value - 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix
By Abev107 - April 9 - 10:00 amOverall the GTP is a great value, but certainly not a value car. Why spend 8-10k more for other cars in its class when this car outperforms them. I bought the car with the competition group package; not sure if the other Grand Prix models perform like this one, but... I think the only thing that limits the speed that I take a corner is how much stuff inside the car I have that can slide around b/c I have yet to make the wheels squeal in a turn. Overall acceleration is excellent, standard radio is more than enough power and clarity.

2004 Pontiac Grand Prix - 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix
By Robert Ludas - March 28 - 10:00 amThis car performs very well. It is my first Pontiac, my previous cars having been Buick Regals and an Olds Cutlass Supreme. Appearance, handling, and general driveability are excellent.

Car is okay, not great - 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix
By MacB - January 18 - 2:00 amCar is decent. Wouldnt really recommend buying one. The car is fun to drive and accelerates well on the highway but from standstill, is sluggish. Interior design components are kind of cheap and the overall build doesnt seem as if it will last beyond 5 years, unlike foreign competitors. Engine noise is also very loud and mileage is below average

We like it - 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix
By GP Fan2 - January 15 - 5:16 pmDrove it over 32,000 miles the first year. We like everything about it. Just out of warranty now and the air bag light came on. Dealer has promised to cover it regardless.

Beware!! - 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix
By Schwoopie11 - September 28 - 12:10 amI have had nothing but a headache with this car. Yes, it is fun to drive but that is only when it is not in the shop. I have had this car in 10+ times in the last year for the same thing, a bad BCM. No one can figure out the problem, not even the engineers. I have always been loyal to Pontiac. But never again..This car is not worth buying, beware.

Love the new GP - 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix
By drob - September 19 - 10:00 amSo far, so good on my new 2004 GT2. It additionally has everything the GTP has minus the engine. Its quick enough, but Im sure the extra horsepower would be nice... I love the looks and the interior is 1000% improved. I drove a 94 GP to 201,000 miles and it was reliable till the end. Ive had the 2004 back to the dealer twice (steering alignment, and the rear defogger was cutting out the radio.) Other than that, Ive been pleased.

Decent car, but no import-killer - 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix
By arbee - May 31 - 7:40 amWe bought a GT2 after a positive experience renting one for a couple of weeks - that, and several thousand dollars in GM incentives on top of fleet pricing. After owning the car for a little over a year, we basically ended up with exactly that - a rental car. Performance is adequate but the car is loud - due to a howl coming from both axles. Interior fit quality is average to good. The Monsoon stereo is a massively underperforming unit, outdone by the base level stereo in our 2000 Focus ZX3. Seats are comfortable, but head room is somewhat limited. The AC unit performs marginally in 100+ degree Texas summers.
